Welcome to the Jordan Creek Science Fair Wiki!
An important part of learning science is doing science. Science fairs offer students an opportunity to practice science investigation and invention. Whether the science fair is competitive or not, the project may be the first time that students choose their own science topic and practice being a scientist or engineer.
This site is designed to help students do one of two things:
design and conduct an investigative experiment (investigation)
design and engineer a practical solution to a problem (invention)
This site is designed to provide students with the information needed to have a successful project. The information here has been taken from the "Science Fair Central" site from Discovery Education. Must attend one of the following dates if you have not participated in Science Fair in the past.
Tuesday, February 9th @ 8:00 AM 1st available Parent / Student Meeting in Jordan Creek Media Center.
Thursday, February 11th @ 5:00 PM 2nd available Parent / Student Meeting in Jordan Creek Media Center.
Wednesday,March 9th @ 8:15 AM - 1st Check in (Get Projects Approved) in 5th and 6th Grade Pod
Wednesday, March 9th @3:10 PM - 1st Check in (Get Projects Approved) in 5th and 6th Grade Pod
Friday, May 6th, 2015 Science Fair Day - The Gym will be open to set up your display at 8:15 AM.
Sample Timeline for Science Fair Project
Time BSF (before the science fair)
Decide on topic and develop question or solution
Background research on topic
Determine materials and purchase them
Set up project and begin to collect data
5 - 4 weeks (depending on project)
Shop for project display supplies
Prepare project display
Prepare oral presentation
Deliver presentation display to school
